Communication Improvement
Improving cross-functional communication so you can connect, engage, and perform at your best. Improving interpersonal communication within your team is key to your teams staying connected, engaged, and performing at their best. Successful team and leadership communication can take many different forms, requires understanding of each other's work methods, and an open mind to how others approach and accomplish tasks at hand.
COMMUNICATION IMPROVEMENT
Why Improv?
Using these techniques in training, speaking, and coaching I’ve seen cultures completely change from having meetings where nobody is listening, everyone is arguing but saying the same thing and nothing is getting done, to having meetings where people are having collaborative conversations and working toward a common goal, valuing what each person brings to the table.
To help tackle your toughest interpersonal communication and teamwork challenges, improv is an excellent delivery method. Improv is the great equalizer, it allows for collaborative conversations where no one is “in charge” and everyone must work as a team as they build something from nothing. It fosters empathy, creativity and trust and allows for improved teamwork, innovation and communication.
COMMUNICATION IMPROVEMENT
Using improvisation as a platform for interactive learning, we set a foundational agreement to:
Say, “Yes, and” – this phrase forces us to actively listen and fully accept the ideas of others.
Make each other look good – when we intentionally look for ways to let others use their skills and talents, we set each other up for success, and we all look amazing.
Improv is not about being “funny,” the goals are to listen, be present , and to create together. However, because of these rules we do end up laughing a lot! Research shows us that laughing together builds trust, helps us to deal with stress, and allows for more creative thinking. It has the ability to strengthen bonds and sync teams. Who couldn’t use more of that?!
